MGM unleashes the Raging Bull

MGM Home Entertainment has added a Blu-Ray version of Martin Scorsese’s film Raging Bull to their February title line-up.

Robert De Niro teams with director Martin Scorsese in this extraordinary film that introduced unflinching realism to stunned audiences in 1980. An “exceedingly violent as well as poetic” fight picture that maps “the landscape of the soul” (The New York Times), Raging Bull garnered eight Oscar® nominations, and won two, including Best Actor for De Niro. De Niro gives the performance of his career as Jake La Motta, a boxer whose psychological and sexual complexities erupt into violence both in and out of the ring. Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriarty are unforgettable as the brother who falls prey to Jake’s mounting paranoia and jealousy, and the fifteen-year-old girl who becomes his most prized trophy.

The high def version will feature a 1080p widescreen transfer of the film and supplement it with a DTS 5.1 HD Master Audio language track.

As extras you will find a Commentary Track by Director Martin Scorsese and Editor Thelma Schoonmaker on the release, as well as a Cast & Crew Commentary featuring Irwin Winkler, Robbie Robertson, Robert Chartoff, Theresa Saldana, John Turturro, Frank Warner, Michael Chapman and Cis Corman. Further, a Storytellers Commentary is included with Mardik Martin, Paul Schrader, Jason Lustin and Jake LaMotta.

Also included are a variety of Featurettes, with titles such as “Raging Bull: Before the Fight,” “Raging Bull: Inside the Ring,” “Raging Bull: Outside the Ring,” “Raging Bull: After the Fight,” “DeNiro vs. LaMotta” and “LaMotta Defends Title.” Also included is the Making Of Documentary “The Bronx Bull.”

The Blu-Ray version of “Raging Bull” enters the ring on February 10. Tickets will go on sale for $34.99.
