MGM unleashes World War II films with a roar in October
MGM Home Entertainment is preparing a number of World War II DVDs for release in October. Among two new box sets, featuring films such as Guns Of Navarone, From Here To Eternity, and Bridge On The River Kwai as well as Das Boot, Caine Mutiny and Anzio respectively, the studio will also release A Bridge Too Far in a new 2-disc Collector’s Edition as well as a new 2-disc Collector’s Edition of Battle Of Britain.
The release of “A Bridge Too Far” will come as a collectible packaging with a 4-page booklet, and boast an all-new transfer in anamorphic widescreen. Also included are hours of extra features including a commentary track by writer William Goldman.
The Collector’s Edition of “Battle Of Britain” will also come in a collectible packaging, containing an 8-page booklet outlining the history of this landmark battle. Also included is a commentary tack by director Guy Hamilton. The release will also come with hours of extras, including featurettes and new documentaries, interviews and the original William Walton score, among other extras.
All DVDs will be released on October 25. The two “WWII” box set will retail for $39.95, while the Collector’s Editions of “A Bridge Too Far” and “Battle Of Britain” will carry a $24.96 price tag.
