In time for the Holidays Buena Vista Home Entertainment is sending a family comedy into the race that is heartwarming and hilarious. ’Santa Who?’ is the story of Santa Claus as portrayed by the inimitable Leslie Nielsen. One day during his Christmas preparations, Old Saint nick bumps his head quite badly and develops a serious case of amnesia. Unable to remember who he is or what he is supposed to do, it is now up to a few heroes to bring back Santa’s memory and save Christmas.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment is presenting this TV production in its original fullframe aspect ratio in a transfer that is very clean and stable. No specks mar the print and although very slightly grainy at times, the picture is beautiful to behold. With very good contrast ,the image ranges from the deepest blacks to the brightest, glaring whites without bleeding. Colors are very faithfully rendered, creating an image that is very natural looking. At the same time, the DVD does a great job reproducing the beautiful atmospheric, romanticized images of Christmas – as if taken right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. The movie has been transferred and compressed without flaws for this DVD and no compression artifacts are evident.

The disc contains a Dolby Surround language track, as well as French and Spanish subtitles. The audio is well-produced and has a good frequency response. Although not as bombastic as many newer productions, the audio here is fully sufficient for the subject matter and makes sure the viewer is always nicely captivated by the sonic presentation.

As a bonus, the DVD also features the classic Disney short film ’The Art Of Skiing,’ a beautiful 8-minute short starring Goofy. The quality is generally good, although the short’s age is evident, of course.

If you’re still looking for a nice Christmas movie to get you in the right spirit, ’Santa Who?’ may be a good choice. It is entertaining for the whole family and an enjoyable and entertaining movie.
