“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” arrives in 4K UHD

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just unveiled plans to bring Ang Lee’s acclaimed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to 4K Ultra High Definition this fall, scheduling a newly restored $K UHD Blu-Ray version and a standard Blu-Ray Disc for release in October.

The film tells the story of two master warriors who are faced with their greatest challenge when the treasured 400-year old Green Destiny sword is stolen by a mysterious masked thief.

The new Blu-Ray version will be available as part of the Supreme Cinema Series, a premium, limited edition collection befitting beloved cinematic favorites and modern classics, featuring collector’s packaging with the acrylic “Clear Case.” The edition also includes a 24-page booklet of rare photos and behind-the-scenes detail that will only be available while supplies last.

Aside from existing bonus materials found on the Blu-Ray previous release, this new version will also include Six Never-before-seen Deleted Scenes, as well as All-New In-Depth Retrospective Interviews in which Director Ang Lee, producer James Schamus and editor Tim Squyres discuss the making of the film.

The 4K UHD version will feature a brand new 4K version of the film with HDR, accompanied by a Dolby Atmos audio track in its original Mandarin language. Similarly to the Blu-Ray version, the release will include all legacy bonus features, along with Six Never-before-seen Deleted Scenes, as well as All-New In-Depth Retrospective Interviews in which Director Ang Lee, producer James Schamus and editor Tim Squyres discuss the making of the film.

“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” is scheduled for release on October 18.
