Kung Fu Panda 2 packs a punch in December

Dreamworks Home Entertainment has just unveiled plans to release Kung Fu Panda 2 this December, bringing the film to DVD and Blu-Ray not only with cool bonus features, but also with a brand new Po adventure, Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters.

In this action-filled companion story, “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters,” Po and the Furious Five uncover the legend of three of kung fu’s greatest heroes: Master Thundering Rhino, Master Storming Ox and Master Croc. 

The release will be available as a barebones single-disc DVD as well as an Awesome Double DVD Pack. It includes Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, the debut of an episode of Nickelodeon’s brand new television series, along with Featurettes, such as “Kickin’ It with the Cast” and “Panda Stories.” Also included is a Commentary Track in which director Jennifer Yuh Nelson, producer Melissa Cobb, production designer Raymond Zibach and supervising animator, kung fu choreographer and story artist Rodolphe Guenoden discuss the making of the film. Also included are Deleted Scenes, some Dreamworks Promos and Previews as well as the Games Kung Fu Shuffle, in which Master Shifu teaches the best way to find a hidden radish in an update of the classic shell game, and Ni Hao—Learn Chinese! in which you can choose from more than 50 Kung Fu Panda-inspired words and learn how to say and draw the symbol in Chinese.

DVD-ROM features and a first look at DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon Arena Spectacular. will round out the release.

The Blu-Ray version, also arriving on two discs, will include all of the above bonus features, as well as Animation Inspiration, a featurette following Po and the Furious Five on their journey throughout China!  See footage of real locations that served as inspiration for the film and learn fun, kid-friendly facts about China.

Also included is The Animators’ Corner a feature filled with interviews with creators, animators, cast and crew, along with storyboards, music and commentary.

Last but not least, you will also find a Trivia Track on the release.

“Kung Fu Panda 2” rocks the house on December 13 for $24.99 on DVD and $29.99 on Blu-Ray Disc, according to Dreamworks’ press release.
