Piranha takes a bite out of your living room

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just added the remake of Piranha to its roster, bringing the film to DVD and Blu-Ray Disc in January.

Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5, 000 to 50,000 for Spring Break, a riot of sun and drunken fun. But this year, there’s something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers; a new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the areas new razor-toothed residents.

The DVD version features an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the movie with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. As an extra the release also contains a Commentary Track by the filmmakers.

The Blu-Ray version offers up a 1080p high definition transfer with DTS 5.1 HD Master Audio. The Commentary Track will also be included on this release along with Deleted Scenes with optional commentary, as well as Welcome to Piranha and Deleted Storyboard Sequences. The release is rounded out by the movie’s Trailer and TV Spots.

In addition, a 3D Blu-Ray version will be available, featuring a 3D presentation of the film along with the same extras as found on the standard Blu-Ray version.
