20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced a newly restored and remastered version of The Sound Of Music, bringing the cherished musical to Blu-Ray Disc for the first time in November.

Starring Oscar winner Julie Andrews in one of her most memorable roles, the film adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical follows Maria, a spirited young woman who leaves a convent and becomes a governess to seven unruly children. Her charm and songs soon win the hearts of the children and their father but when Nazi Germany unites with Austria, Maria is forced to attempt a daring escape with her new family.

This 45th Anniversary Edition of the movie will arrive as a Limited Edition Collector’s Set including an Exclusive Hand Painted Music Box, 100-Page Scrapbook, 45th Anniversary Soundtrack and More, as well as a 3-disc Blu-Ray set.

The movie will feature a brand new 1080p high definition transfer, accompanied by a DTS 7.1 HD Master Audio track. As extras you will find Audio Commentaries with Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer and Director Robert Wise on the disc, as well as a Video Commentary with Behind-the-Scenes Images, On-Screen Lyrics, Trivia Track and Location Quiz. Also included is a Music Machine Sing-Along and BD Live Connectivity.

The second disc of the set will include an all-new Backlot Tour called ”Musical Stages: Creating The Sound of Music” with In-Depth Featurettes on the Songs, the Stage Show & Movie, the Film and Sound Restoration and the Real-Life von Trapp Family. Further included is ”A City of Song”, a Virtual Map of Filming Locations in Salzburg, Austria. Vintage Rodgers & Hammerstein and The Sound of Music Programs and Screen Tests, Rare Treasures, Interviews, Photo Galleries and other things will also be part of the release.

The third disc on the set will be the movie’s DVD version, also featuring a remastered transfer and audio track, along with a Sing-Along Track, Music Machine Sing-Along and The Sound of Music Tour.

“The Sound Of Music” will be heard once again on November 2 and can be your in high definition for 89.99 as the gist set, or for $34.99 as the Blu-Ray 3-disc set.
