Avatar is set for April

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has just unveiled plans to release James Cameron’s Avatar on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc in April already.

Interestingly, at this time, the studio will release the film entirely without bonus materials, which makes it quite predictable that before the end of the year you will most likely see a multi-disc special edition featuring the bonus materials people expected to see on this release. In addition, this release will not feature a 3D version of the film, a feature that is also held back for a future release. Considering how much money the movie already made, it feels a little shameless how 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is setting themselves up to milk this film on home video for all that it’s worth.

The lackluster, uninviting version of “Avatar” arrives on DVD for $29.98 and on Blu-Ray Disc with a DVD Digital Copy for $39.99 on April 22.
