Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has added the animated Planet 51 for release on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc in March.

When Chuck the astronaut (Dwayne Johnson) lands on a distant planet filled with little green people, he is surprised to discover that we are not alone in the galaxy. But he gets the shock of his life when the residents of Planet 51 mistakenly believe that his presence is the start of an alien invasion of the human kind! Luckily, Lem (Justin Long) quickly realizes that Chuck is friendly and makes it his personal mission to help him return safely to his ship.

The DVD version offers an anamorphic widescreen version of the film with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and will also include a number of cool extras, such as Extended Scenes and the Behind-the-scenes Featurette ”Life on Planet 51”. Also included is Planetarium, a look at the Voice Stars of Planet 51 and The World of Planet 51, in which you explore the Sights and Sounds of the movie. In addition, a Music Video Montage will be part of the release, along with Animation Progression Reels for you to view. The release is rounded out by Want More Fun? and a Exclusive Fun “Run Rover Run” Game!.

The Blu-Ray version will arrive in a 1080p high definition transfer with high definition audio and include all of the same bonus materials as the DVD version. In addition, however ,this version will also include a Digital Copy of the film on a separate disc.

“Planet 51” will come within reach of Earth on March 9 for $28.96 on DVD and $39.95 on Blu-Ray Disc.
