This weekend, the Wilshire Grand Hotel will be host to The Screenwriting Expo. It is a convention for screenwriters from around the country, making it an interesting destination also for all those aspiring screenwriters among our readers to learn more about the craft, and the industry.

Founded in 2001, The Screenwriting Expo includes more than 130 teaching sessions on the business and craft of screenwriting, interviews with guests of honor, panel discussions with producers and agents, an exhibit hall for screenwriters, the world’s only live, on-the-scene screenwriting competition, the CS Open, and one of Hollywood’s most popular pitch fests, the Golden Pitch.

Among the speakers sharing their expertise are, for example, “Women Who Happen To Be Screenwriters” in a panel with luminaries Susannah Grant (Academy Award nominee for Erin Brockovich), Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada), Shauna Cross (Whip It with Ellen Page & Drew Barrymore), Deborah Kaplan (wrote & directed Can’t Hardly Wait), Abby Kohn (co-wrote Never Been Kissed).
