A lot of speculation has been floating around concerning Disney’s Diamond Collection which will launch with Snow White this fall. Now Disney has come forward with their plans. Not too many specifics, but a good outline. IN 2010, Beauty and the Beast and Fantasia (with Fantasia 2000) will arrive. In the next couple years, The Lion King, Bambi, Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations will arrive. Interestingly, in 2015 Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty are scheduled to join the Diamond Collection; although it’s obviously far too early to know how much they’ll change from their current forms.
Some interesting things to note; Aladdin didn’t make the leap from Platinum to Diamond, which means it may be released as a regular release any time Disney sees fit. Also, rumors of a Dumbo release aren’t addressed here, but since the title will not be a Diamond release, it may receive a 2010 release as well, but that is merely speculation.
