The Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3 is headed for you

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just announced the release of The Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3 on DVD, Blu-Ray Disc and UMD in November.

Walter Garber (Denzel Washington) is a New York City subway dispatcher whose ordinary day is thrown into chaos by an audacious crime: the hijacking of a subway train. Ryder (John Travolta), the criminal mastermind behind the hijacking and leader of a highly-armed gang of four, threatens to execute the train’s passengers unless a large ransom is paid within one hour. As the tension mounts beneath his feet, Garber employs his vast knowledge of the subway system in a battle to outwit Ryder and save the hostages. But there’s one riddle Garber can’t solve: even if the thieves get the money, how can they possibly escape?

The DVD version will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio presentation. Loaded with extras, you will find a Commentary Track by director Tony Scott on the release, as well as a second Commentary, featuring Writer Brian Helgeland and Producer Todd Black. A number of Featurettes round out the release, sporting titles such as ”No Time to Lose: The Making of Pelham 123,” “The Third Rail: New York Underground,” “Marketing Pelham” and ”From the Top Down: Stylizing Character”.

The Blu-Ray version arrives in a 1080p high definition transfer with high definition audio tracks. It will include the same bonus materials as the DVD version but in addition will come with Sony’s cineChat feature.

On UMD you will get the film without any extras.

“The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3” comes to stores on November 3 and can be yours for $28.96 on DVD, $39.95 on Blu-Ray Disc and $24.94 on UMD.
