Sony takes you on the Midnight Express in high definition

We just received information that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has added a Blu-Ray Disc version of Alan Parker’s harrowing Midnight Express to their July line-up.

Brad Davis and John Hurt star in this riveting true story of a young American’s nightmarish experiences in a Turkish prison and his unforgettable journey to freedom. Busted for attempting to smuggle hashish out of Istanbul, American college student Billy Hayes (Davis) is thrown into the city’s most brutal jail. After suffering through four years of sadistic torture and inhuman conditions, Billy is about to be released when his parole is denied. Only his inner courage and the support of a fellow inmate (Hurt) give him the strength to catch the “Midnight Express” … and escape his living hell.

The release will contain a Booklet and also contain bonus materials, such as a Commentary Track with Director Alan Parker, as well as the Featurettes ”The Producers,” “The Production” and ”The Finished Film”. Also included is a Photo Gallery and Alan Parker’s Personal Essay and Photo Journal.

You catch the “Midnight Express” on Blu-Ray on July 21 for $38.98.
