Here’s the full scoop on your dose of Underworld

As we announced a little while ago in this posting, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans
on DVD, UMD and Blu-Ray disc in May, and now additional information has surfaced surrounding this release as well as previous installments in the franchise.

“Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans,” the prequel story in the series traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Michael Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.

Featuring an anamorphic widescreen transfer with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, the DVD version will also contain a Commentary Track by cast and crew members, as well as the Featurette ” The Origin of the Feud”. You will also find a From Script to Screen Featurette on the disc, as well as the ”Deathclub” Music Video by William Control.

The Blu-Ray Disc version with its 1080p transfer and high definition audio track will offer up the same bonus materials as the DVD version, but in addition, it will dish out a Video Commentary called ” Behind Castle Walls” and a Cinchat. Further, the release will contain an Interactive Map feature with the title ”Lycanthropes Around the World”. The disc will be rounded out by a cool PS3 Wallpaper.

“Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans” will arrive in stores on May 12 with a $28.96 price tag on DVD, or $39.95 on Blu-Ray Disc. The featureless UMD version can be had for $24.94.

In addition to this release, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will also release the Underworld Trilogy box set on Blu-Ray, containing all three films of the franchise packed together. Available also on May 12 this release will carry a $92.95 sticker price.
