Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has added a Blu-Ray Disc version of Ghandi to their release schedule in February.

Sir Ben Kingsley stars as Mohandas Gandhi in Richard Attenborough’s riveting biography of the man who rose from simple lawyer to worldwide symbol of peace and understanding.

A critical masterpiece, Gandhi is an intriguing story about activism, politics, religious tolerance and freedom. But at the center of it all is an extraordinary man who fought for a nonviolent, peaceful existence, and set an entire nation free. Winner of 8 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director (Richard Attenborough) and Best Actor (Sir Ben Kingsley), Gandhi’s highly acclaimed cast also includes Candice Bergen, Edward Fox, Sir John Gielgud, Roshan Seth and Martin Sheen.

The release will feature a 1080p high definition transfer of the film in its 2.35:1 widescreen aspect ratio and complement it with a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. As extras the release will contain an Introduction by Lord Richard Attenborough as well as a Commentary Track by Attenborough. As a Blu-Ray Exclusive, the disc will also feature a Picture-in-Graphics Track entitled Ghandi’s Legacy.

“Ghandi” will make his stand once again on February 17 for only $28.95.
