As we reported earlier, Genius Products is bringing the Jackie Chan action comedy Supercop, which is better known as “Police Story 3” among fans, to DVD in January. Finally the studio has unveiled the complete specs of the release.
Martial arts icons Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh are at their absolute peak in this freewheeling, action-packed adventure. A once-in-a-lifetime one-two punch, they team up as a risk-taking cop and a strait-laced but beautiful federal agent, working undercover together to take down an international drug ring. Risking life and limb, Chan and Yeoh perform their own incredible stunts, dangling from a soaring helicopter, leaping onto careening cars, and delivering beat-downs on the roof of a speeding train.
Coming to DVD under the studio’s Dragon Dynasty label the release will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the movie with an English DTS track, as well as Dolby Digital 5.1 track in English and a mono Cantonese track. Sadly it appears now as if the DVD will feature only the edited US-version of the movie, running 91-minutes, which is, of course, a major disappointment for most fans of the film.
In terms of extras, the DVD will serve up a Commentary Track by Hong Kong Cinema Expert Bey Logan, as well as an Exclusive Interview with Jackie Chan. Further you will find an Exclusive Interview with Michelle Yeoh on the disc, plus an Exclusive Interview with Director Stanley Tong. In addition, the Featurette The Fall Guy is included on the release, offering insight into the film’s unbelievably breathtaking stunts with interviews by Co-Star And Jackie Chan Bodyguard and Training Partner Ken Lo.
“Supercop” will be in stores on January 13 for $19.97.
