King Kong finally rampages on Blu-Ray Disc

Universal Home Entertainment has finally added a Blu-Ray Disc version of Peter Jackson’s King Kong to their release line-up, scheduling the film for release in January.

Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody and Jack Black star in this spectacular film filled with heart-pounding action, terrifying creatures and groundbreaking special effects unlike anything you’ve seen before! Get ready for breathtaking action in this thrilling epic adventure about a legendary gorilla captured on a treacherous island and brought to civilization, where he faces the ultimate fight for survival.

The Blu-Ray version will feature a 1080p high definition transfer of the film and supplement it with a DTS 5.1 HD Master Audio track. The release will also feature both the Theatrical and Extended Cut of the movie using seamless branching technology.

The release is a bit slim in terms of extras, especially when compared to the splendid DVD versions, but nonetheless, the theatrical version will be accompanied by U-Control Art Galleries and BD Live Scene Sharing. The extended version will offer a Picture-in-picture Video Commentary, U-Control Art Galleries and BD Live Scene Sharing as well as a Commentary Track by Peter Jackson.

“King Kong” will finally make its Blu-Ray debut on January 20 with a friendly 29.99 price tag.
