Friday the 13th will conjure up scares in high definition

Paramount Home Entertainment is currently working on a high definition version of Sean Cunningham’s horror classic Friday The 13th, slated to hit Blu-Ray disc in February.

Terror and suspense abound in this 24-hour nightmare of blood. Camp Crystal Lake has been shuttered for over 20 years due to several vicious and unsolved murders. The camp’s new owner and seven young counselors are readying the property for re-opening despite warnings of a “death curse” by local residents. The curse proves true on Friday the 13th as one by one each of the counselors is stalked by a violent killer.

The Blu-Ray version will feature a brand new 1080p high definition transfer and supplement it with a high resolution lossless audio track. Best of all, however, for the first time ever in the US, this release will feature the Uncut Version of the film! In terms of extras, the disc will also contain a series of Featurettes examining various aspects of the movie, its production and legacy. “ Fresh Cuts: New Tales of Friday the 13th,” “ Man Behind The Legacy: Sean S. Cunningham,” “ Friday the 13th: Special Reunion” and “Lost Tales From Camp Blood: Part I” are the titles of these featurettes. As you can tell by the title, “ Lost Tales From Camp Blood: Part I” is the first in a series of featurettes, which will be continued in each of the seven sequels. In addition, look also for the movie’s Theatrical Trailer.

“Friday The 13th: Uncut Deluxe Edition” will come to a store near you on February 3 for $29.99. A new DVD version of the film will also be released on the same day.
