The Pink Panther is leaving clues in high definition

MGM Home Entertainment has just added a DVD Collector’s Edition and a Blu-Ray Disc version of the original The Pink Panther to their release line-up.

Arriving at a posh resort with her precious “panther” a large gem with them image of a leaping feline inside sexy Princess Dala meets the debonair Sir Charles. She is unaware, however, that Charles, a.k.a. “The Phantom,” is a professional thief who steals from the rich and gives to…himself! Enter Jacques Clouseau, the clumsiest inspector ever to trip over a case. Can he stop Charles’ attempts to relieve the princess of her diamond? Can he even exit a room without breaking off the doorknob? Or will The Phantom steal away the “cat” and leave Clouseau to hold the bag?

The DVD release will offer an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the movie, complemented by a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track as well as the original mono tracks in English, French and Spanish.

The Blu-Ray version will feature a brand new 1080p high definition transfer that is supplemented by a DTS 5.1 HD audio track and for the first time that I can remember, DTS tracks in a variety of additional languages such as French, Portuguese and Spanish.

No extras have been announced yet for the title but we will keep you posted as soon as additional information comes in.

“The Pink Panther” will be on everyone’s mind again on January 27 for $14.98 on DVD and $39.99 on Blu-Ray.
