Sleeping Beauty goes interactive

I’m sure when Walt Disney began work on Sleeping Beauty, the last thing on his mind was “I hope in 55 years, people will be able to watch this movie in their laps while discussing it with their friends around the country”. But that’s the way things are turning out. Disney is pulling out all the stops on the capabilities of Blu-ray with both BD-Java and BD-Live functionality.

The new movie mail feature will allow friends to chat and send messages to the screen via their computers or PDAs. This will be in addition to the many supplements coming on Disney’s first traditional animated film to arrive on Blu-ray.

The disc will arrive with PCM 7.1 sound with a suggested retail price of $34.99 on October 7th.
