Beetlejuice goes high def but without notable features

Warner Home Video has just unveiled plans to release the Tim Burton comedy Beetlejuice on Blu-Ray Disc this fall.

What’s a yuppie ghost couple to do when their quaint New England home is overrun by trendy New Yorkers? They hire a freelance “bio-exorcist” to spook the intruders. And everyone gets more than he, she or it bargained for!

The release will feature a newly remastered 1080p high definition transfer as well as a new Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. A little thin on the extras the release will only include 3 Episodes from the Beetlejuice Animated Series produced by Tim Burton and David Geffen, presented in a fullframe standard definition presentation. The only other extra included is a premium Soundtrack CD Sampler.

Considering that no cast or crew commentaries or featurettes included the $34.99 appears a bit steep when the disc appears in stores on September 16.
