Na na na na na na na na Batman

The rights to the Batman television show continue to ride a murky path, but Batman: The Movie from 1966 is coming to Blu-ray this summer.

The four greatest super-criminals of The United Underworld – The Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler and The Penguin – combine forces to dispose of Batman and Robin as they launch their fantastic plot to control the entire world. Can the dynamic duo stop The United Underworld before it’s too late?

The Blu-ray actually comes loaded with a great del of extras including commentary with Adam West and Burt Ward and commentary by screenwriter Lorenzo Semple Jr., the interviews from the 2001 DVD release and a featurette on the Batmobile, an interactive tour of the Batmobile, on location, a pop-up trivia track, trailers, galleries and new high def featurettes Batman: A Dynamic Legacy, Caped Crusaders: A Heroes Tribute and Gotham City’s Most Wanted. Also for fans of the cool jazz music of Batman, the score is available as an isolated audio track.

In addition to the regular DVD, a very limited run of 5,000 units will come in special packaging with a Hot Wheels Batmobile. The two versions will be priced at $39.98 and $59.98 when they arrive on July 1st.
