Microsoft has long been a backer of the HD-DVD format by providing only a HD-DVD drive for their Xbox 360. However, not very surprising, the company is open to change and as Albert Penello, group marketing manager for Xbox, pointed out earlier this week, Microsoft is considering options, which will include offering a separate Blu-Ray Disc drive for the Xbox if HD-DVD should fold.

Penello is absolutely clueless however when it comes to the actual state of affairs in the format war, but at least he confirmed what I have always told people – for Microsoft a switch to Blu-Ray is only a device driver away.
