HBO and New Line follow the Blu line

After last week’s announcement that Warner Home Video will be supporting the Blu-Ray Disc format exclusively once they have exhausted the titles currently in the production pipeline, today, New Line Home Entertainment and HBO Home Video have also declared their alliance with the Blu-Ray Disc format, dropping HD-DVD support for their titles.

Warner’s announcement last week was pretty much seen as the death knell to the HD-DVD format and was clearly in evidence during the is week’s CES show, from which I just returned. Everyone in the industry is giving a sigh of relief that this war is finally coming to an end and that everyone can focus onto creating and selling high definition content as opposed to spending valuable time and dollars on trying to convince people which format to choose, with very little results.

Rosy – or should I say Blu – times are finally lying ahead..
