Baron Munchhausen is at it again in April – in high def

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is preparing a 20th Anniversary Special Edition of Terry Gilliam’s comedy The Adventures Of Baron Munchhausen for DVD and Blu-Ray Disc in April.

Director Terry Gilliam and an all-star cast including John Neville, Eric Idle, Oliver Reed and Uma Thurman deliver this tale of the enchanting adventures of Baron von Munchausen on his journey to save a town from defeat. Being swallowed by a giant sea-monster, a trip to the moon, a dance with Venus and an escape from the Grim Reaper are only some of the improbable adventures.

Coming as a 2-disc DVD version with widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, will also contain a Commentary Track with director Terry Gilliam & co-writer/actor Charles McKeown. Also included as an all-new 3-part Documentary called “The Madness and Misadventures of Munchausen” as well as Storyboard Sequences with all-new vocal performances by Terry Gilliam and Charles McKeown. A selection of Deleted Scenes will round out this release.

The single-disc Blu-Ray version will include the same extras, combined with a 1080p high definition transfer for the feature film and Dolby Digital Plus audio, however. As a Blu-Ray exclusive feature you will find “The Marvelous World of Munchausen”, an Enhanced Graphics and Trivia Track on the disc also.

“The Adventures Of Baron Munchhausen” will arrive on April 8 for $24.95 on DVD and $28.95 on Blu-Ray.
