Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead returns to DVD with a wealth of extras

Anchor Bay Entertainment has just revealed details about the upcoming release of The Evil Dead: Ultimate Edition, scheduled to haunt viewers in December.

Five college friends, including Ash (Bruce Campbell) drive to a remote cabin in the woods for a weekend of fun. Little do they realize that their fun will soon turn to fear, as an unstoppable supernatural force has been unleashed and surrounds the woods around them. One by one, they fall victim to the demonic forces at large, resurrected as murderous demons which can only be destroyed by dismemberment. Easier said than done. Soon, only Ash is left to combat the evil before it consumes the world. It’ll be a fight to the death … and to the undeath.

Sam Raimi’s career-launching movie will return to DVD as a 3-Disc DVD set, featuring a widescreen presentation of the movie with reconstructed and restored scenes for the first time ever, accompanied by a Commentary Track by Director Sam Raimi and Producer Robert Tapert as well as the all-new Documentary “One by One We Will Take You: The Untold Saga of The Evil Dead”. On the second disc you will find the fullframe version of the movie, complete with a Commentary Track by Bruce Campbell and also featuring the all new Featurette “The Evil Dead: Treasures from the Cutting Room Floor”.

The third disc is filled with nothing but cool extras, many of them all-new, such as Life After Death: The Ladies of The Evil Dead, a close look at home, on the road and behind-the-scenes with Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker and Theresa Tilly. Also new is The Ladies of The Evil Dead Meet Bruce Campbell, in which Ellen, Betsy and Theresa join Bruce for an informal yakfest.
Next up is “Unconventional” a cast and crew reunion to discuss horror conventions and beyond, while ”At the Drive-In” offers a no-holds-barred Q&A with a drive-in audience of hardcore fans.

The Reunion Panel is a once-in-a-lifetime panel at Chicago’s Flashback Weekend Horror Convention, while Discovering The Evil Dead is a look at the British home video release of “The Evil Dead” and it’s place in the “Video Nasties” debate.

The disc will be filled to the brim with Make-Up Test Footage, the movie’s Trailer and TV Spots as well as a Still Gallery and an extensive Poster & Memorabilia Gallery.

“The Evil Dead: Ultimate Edition” will give you scares and laughs in spades on December 18 when it can be yours to won for $34.97.
