Toshiba America and CBS have just announced a cool promotion for the upcoming high definition launch of Star Trek: The Original Series: Season 1. Coming to HD-DVD on November 20 the high definition version of the cult scifi series will not only offer all first season episodes in glorious 1080p presentation, but will also contain standard definition DVD versions as well.

Now, to make entering the high definition arena even more attractive, Toshiba gives you an added incentive to buy one of their new third-generation HD-DVD players. If you buy a player and the Star Trek box set you can get an exclusive, limited edition “Star Trek” Phaser remote control that will operate Toshiba’s HD-DVD players. The promotion is planned to coincide with the launch of the “Star Trek” HD-DVD boxed set.
