Cars tries to rev up Blu-ray

Buena Vista has announced that Cars is coming to Blu-ray. But they’ve also done their best to full utilize Blu-ray.

From the acclaimed creators of Toy Story, The Incredibles and Finding Nemo comes a high-octane adventure comedy that shows life is about the journey, not the finish line. Hot shot rookie race car Lightning McQueen is living life in the fast lane until he hits a detour on his way to the most important race of his life. Stranded in Radiator Springs, a forgotten town on the old Route 66, he meets Sally, Mater, Doc Hudson and a variety of quirky characters who help him discover that there’s more to life than trophies and fame.

Of course the film is included, in 1080p and 24-bit uncompressed sound. And the features from the DVD have been ported over as well including deleted scenes (with one new exclusive sequence). New featurettes are included in the set along with some more Blu-ray enhanced features using Java. These include Cine-Explore; a dashboard interface which allows viewers to have additional information available to them and the Car Finder game, which lets users track and find car models within the film to access additional information.

The disc will be priced at $34.99 when it arrives on a 50Gb disc on November 6th.
