Warner has announced that The Departed has sold over 100, 000 copies in high definition. This is the combined numbers for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD with a larger number of BRDs sold. This marks a first for the high def world. Casino Royale was recently the first title to ship 100, 000 copies and currently has about 80,000 sold. Warner is crediting their dual format support for the higher sales and can back that claim up with five titles in the top ten selling high def discs (The Departed, Superman Returns, Batman Begins, Happy Feet and Goodfellas).
