Paramount announces additional high def titles

A number of high def title announcements just arrived from Paramount Home Entertainment this morning with titles being slated for both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Disc release simultaneously.

Hustle & Flow will arrive on June 26 telling the tale of DJay (Terrence Howard), a pimp whose gritty hustle selling sexy Nola (Taryn Manning) and supporting pregnant Shug (Taraji Henson) leaves him wondering if this is it for him. Only when he trades contraband for a keyboard and bumps into his old school friend Key (Anthony Anderson) does he see a way out by laying down some tracks and fulfilling his dream of becoming a respected rapper. When he learns Skinny Black (Ludacris), a local rapper turned mogul, is rolling through town for he 4th of July, DJay plans for the hustle of his life to get his voice heard.

Brian DePalma’s The Untouchables is next on the list, scheduled for a June 3 release. A glorious, fierce, larger-than-life depiction of the mob warlord who ruled Prohibition-era Chicagom and the law enforcer who vowed to bring him down, this classic confrontation between good and evil stars Kevin Costner as federal agent Eliot Ness, Robert DeNiro as gangland kingpin Al Capone and Sean Connery as Malone, the cop who teaches Ness how to beat the mob: shoot fast and shoot first.

The third item on the release schedule is Director’s Cut of The Warriors, also coming to high definition on June 3. Director Walter Hill claims his turf in this stunning, must-see version of the classic film, loaded with special features that pack extra punch. The Warriors are ready to fight their way back to Coney Island, but standing in their path are some of the baddest, out-for-blood gangs in New York City. It’ll take every bit of street smarts and every weapon they can find to make it back alive!

All HD-DVD and Blu-Ray versions of these movies will include 1080p widescreen transfers with Dolby Digital Plus audio tracks. All extras from the previous DVD versions of these films will carried over onto these high definition releases.

All versions will carry a friendly $29.99 sticker price.
