Go Inside The Actors Studio

Later this year, Shout! Factory will have two new releases of the long running series Inside The Actor’s Studio. The first release is the interview with Johnny Depp and the second is a box set of leading men.

Johnny Depp, who began as one of the most intriguing actors of his
generation, has become one of its most respected artists and incandescent
stars. Launching his career as a teenage heartthrob, then moving into
eccentric roles in films like Edward Scissorhands and What’s Eating Gilbert
Grape, he has alternated between independent films like Fear And Loathing In
Las Vegas and mainstream blockbusters like the Pirates Of The Caribbean
trilogy, leading to the inescapable conclusion that his future is as bright
and varied as his vivid, unbridled imagination. In one of only a handful of
interviews Johnny Depp has ever granted, he brings both his fascinating
eccentricity and his deep, uncompromising devotion to the craft of acting to
the master’s degree candidates of the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace
University – and to the viewers of Inside The Actors Studio in 125 countries
around the world.

The upcoming DVD includes flashbacks with James Lipton and segments that did not make the final aired episode.

The Leading Men Set comes over three discs.

DISC ONE:

Robert De Niro: Famous for being as protective of his privacy as of the
integrity of his performances, this pillar of the Actors Studio ended years
of personal silence when he brought his matchless experience and penetrating
insight to the worldwide stage of Inside The Actors Studio. He explores
moments from his astonishing range of work including Taxi Driver, Raging
Bull, The Godfather trilogy and more. (Program recorded Jan. 24, 1999)

DISC TWO:

Al Pacino: Pacino, like De Niro, has led the way for a generation of actors,
beginning with his breakthrough portrayal of Michael Corleone in The
Godfather. Here he recounts his experience creating the role and his daily
certainty that he was going to be fired. In this 2-hour special and rare
public appearance, he also discusses other roles that earned him eight
Oscar(r) nominations. (Program recorded Oct. 2, 2006)

DISC THREE:

Sean Penn: With four Academy Award(r) nominations and an Oscar for his
performance in Mystic River, Penn is, like Pacino and De Niro, revered for
his mastery of character roles. Also like the other three, Penn is rarely
sighted in a public setting, and he has proven to be a frank and giving
guest, exploring his roles in films as varied as Fast Times At Ridgemont
High, I Am Sam and Dead Man Walking. (Program recorded Feb. 28, 1999)

Russell Crowe: Russell Crowe holds the distinction of having received three
Best Actor Oscar(r) nominations in consecutive years, for his portrayal of
Dr. Jeffrey Wigand in The Insider, Maximus Decimus Meridius in Gladiator,
for which he won the Academy Award, and Nobel Prize winner John Nash in A
Beautiful Mind. He proves to be an open, generous guest when he shares his
craft with the master’s degree candidates of the Actors Studio Drama School.
(Program recorded Jan. 4, 2004)
