Blu-Ray loves James Bond

Ten years ago (almost to the day), DVD launched in selected cities and went nationwide in September of 1997. Market analysts were amazed at its rapid acceptance into American Homes much faster than any previous home entertainment technology and within eleven months Air Force One became the first title to sell 100, 000 copies. While perception of both higeh definition formats has been lower, Casino Royale has the distinction of being the first high def title to reach that milestone only nine months after the launch of Blu-Ray. The BRD version of the film was the first high definition title to break the top ten on Amazon’s order list.

Blu-Ray has a slight lead over HD-DVD in sales topping 1 million units while HD-DVD is at the 900,000 mark.
