Oliver Stone’s Alexander returns in February

I thought we had reported on this before, but looking through the archive it seems I missed the opportunity. Warner Home Video is currently preparing a new unrated version of Oliver Stone’s Alexander featuring 45 minutes of never-before-seen footage added into the film for DVD release in February.

Torn by the war between his parents (Angelina Jolie and Val Kilmer), Alexander (Colin Farrell) left Greece to face massive armies in Persia, Afghanistan and India — and was never defeated. “Fortune favors the bold” and Alexander was bold enough to command vast armies when he was just 25 years old. In the end, Alexander would face incredible battles that would re-shape the world as known today. A sweeping story of the greatest conqueror in history, this timeless saga comes alive with intense battle scenes, exotic locales and dramatic intrigue.

Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut as the release is called comes to DVD as a 2-disc Special Edition complete with a new Introduction by Oliver Stone. No other extras will be included and the 213-minute feature film will be spread across 2 discs to allow for the best possible presentation in widescreen with 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio.

“Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut” will be in stores on February 27 for $24.98. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray versions will follow some time later in the year.
