Like Panasonic a short while ago, Philips quietly and without much fanfare just began putting their BDP9000 Blu-Ray player on retail shelves here in the US. The company shipped the players to Wal-Mart stores where they will reportedly go on sale beginning November 1 with a $899 price tag. This would make the BDP9000 the cheapest Blu-Ray player currently available. Reports are also trickling in that some Wal-Mart stores are actually selling the player already. So, if you want to save a bit of money, this Blu-Ray player may be the perfect choice for you over the more broken Samsung player or the much more expensive Panasonic unit.
