Shogun Assassin comes to DVD as a Collector’s Edition

Completely restored, AnimEigo will release Robert Houston’s Shogun Assassin for the first time on DVD in September.

Starring samurai-film heavyweight Tomisaburo Wakayama, “Shogun Assassin” takes place in a time of evil and tyranny, where a stone-faced ronin wanders the Japanese countryside pushing his young son Daigoro along in the most dangerous baby cart in film history, under constant assault by the merciless minions of an evil Shogun. Once a noble samurai, he is now the most feared assassin in Japan, known only as Lone Wolf. He and his son walk along a bloody road, with violent death awaiting them at every turn.

The Collector’s Edition will feature a widescreen presentation of the movie as well as a number of extras, including Program Notes, Daigoro’s History Lesson, a Restoration Gallery and the film’s Theatrical Trailers.

“Shogun Assassin” will be in stores on September 12 with a suggested retail price of $19.98.
