Paramount launches its Blu-Ray offensive

After entering the high definition arena with a series of HD-DVD titles a little while ago Paramount Home Entertainment is now getting ready to also make these titles available for the Blu-Ray platform.

Coming on September 26, the studio will release Tomb Raider, Four Brothers, Sleepy Hollow and Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, all offering up 1080p transfers complemented by 5.1 channel Dolby Digital Plus and 5.1 channel DTS audio tracks.

A second wave of releases arrives on October 10, including Sahara, U2 Rattle And Hum, Aeon Flux and The Italian Job, also with 1080p video transfers and 5.1 channel Dolby Digital Plus and 5.1 channel DTS audio tracks with the exception of “Rattle And Hum” which will actually contain a Dolby Digital EX and a 6.1 channel DTS ES audio track.

The extras included on these blu-Ray versions are the same bonus materials as on the movies’ HD-DVD counterparts, including the high definition versions of the trailers. Each disc will be in stores with an attractive $29.99 sticker price.
