Backdraft turns 15

The fifteenth anniversary of Ron Howard’s Backdraft is being marked by a new special edition DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment replacing the exsisting DVD that came out way back in the summer of ’97 when jewel cases were still used for DVDs.

Rookie firefighter Brian McCaffrey is struggling to earn the respect of his older brother Stephen as the siblings carry on a heroic family tradition as Chicago firefighters. When a series of
lethal fires are discovered to be intentionally set, the brothers must team up to investigate these explosive crimes

The two-disc DVD comes with a new introduction by Ron Howard, 40 minutes of deleted scenes and five featurettes on the film and the real lives of firefighters.

The DVD set will arrive on September 19th as will the HD-DVD. They will be priced at $19.98 and $29.98 respectively.
