Forbidden Planet, the film that made sci-fi legit has been on DVD before, but Warner Home Entertainment is finally given it the royal treatment with two special editions arriving in November.

The film has been cleaned up for a new anamorphic widescreen transfer along with newly created Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. The extras on the two disc speicial edition include audio commentaries, additional scenes, three documentaries and two appearances of Robby the Robot in later incarnations. The collector’s box also comes with a Robby action figure, lobby cards and a poster (available through a mail-in coupon). The collectors edition comes in a metal tin.

Both versions will arrive on November 14th. Look for the two disc special edition to have a suggested retail price of $26.99 and the ultimate edition at $59.92.
