The Fox & the Hound turn 25

Certainly not one of Disney’s better known classics, The Fox & the Hound will be getting a special DVD release for it’s 25th anniversary this fall.

A young fox named Tod is taken in by an old woman after his mother is killed by a hunter. Full of mischief, Young Tod befriends Copper, a hound dog pup. As they grow up, however, their friendship becomes endangered by what they have become; Copper is a hunting dog, and Tod is his prey.

The new disc will contain the film in Dolby Digital 5.1 and fullscreen (doubtless re-opening many discussions on the intended ratio of Disney’s “70s and ”80s films). Also on the dis are a DVD storybook, a sing along, two shorts and a trailer for The Fox and the Hound 2.

The DVD is set to arrive on October 10th of this year.
