Toshiba is ready for HD recording

The two questions everyone asked when DVD hit the market (can you believe it’s been just shy of a decade) were, “when can I get it in my computer” and “will it record”. Well, high definition formats are both working towards ROM units, most notably in the video game department, but Toshiba today announced they are working on an HD-DVD recorder.

The RD-A1 Toshiba recorder includes an HD DVD burner as well as a hard drive which can store 130 hours of high-def material which can later be transfered to disc. The unit ships in July in Japan for approximately $3,500.00. No plans yet on a U.S. release.
