Double Indemnity returns

Despite being on the AFI’s top 100 films of all time Double Indemnity has been somewhat of a rarity in the past seveal years. Although released briefly from Image as a somewhat decent, if unremarkable release, the disc has been out of print for years. Pulling in top dollar on Ebay, and giving rise to a large number of overseas imports. But finally, Universal Home Entertainment is releasing the film properly with a Legacy Series Edition due out this summer.

Smooth talking insurance salesman Walter Neff meets attractive Phyllis Dietrichson when he calls to renew her husband’s automobile policy. The couple are immediately drawn to each other and an affair begins. They cook up a scheme to murder Mr. Dietrichson for life insurance money with a double indemnity clause. Unfortunately, all does not go to plan…

The DVD includes the featurette Shadows of Suspense, two audio commentaries, and the TV movie remake of the film.
