Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announces Ultraviolet for June

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment just sent over information about the upcoming release of Ultraviolet a new supercharged thriller starring Milla Jovovich.

Set in the late 21st Century, “Ultraviolet” centers on a new subculture of genetically-modified humans that have emerged with a vampire-like disease (Hemophagia), giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence. As this new breed is set apart from normal, “healthy” humans, the world is pushed to a global civil war aimed at the destruction of the “diseased” population. In the middle is Ultraviolet, an infected woman who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy who has been marked for death by the government as he is believed to be a threat to humans.

The film will come to market in two different versions, the original PG-13-rated Theatrical Cut as well as a new Unrated Extended Cut sold separately. The film will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track. As extras the theatrical version will include a Commentary Track with cast members and “UV Protection,” a Featurette on the making of the movie. In addition to these bonus features the unrated version will also include Never-Before-Seen Footage.

Scheduled for release on June 27, “Ultraviolet” will come in a number of configurations and formats. Both DVD versions will be in stores for $28.95. UMD versions for the Playstation Portable will also be released on the same day for $28.95. Also on June 27 we will see the release of the Blu-Ray Version of the movie. Coming also as the theatrical and the unrated version, the Blu-Ray disc will come with all the same extras as their DVD counterparts and carry a suggested retail price of $38.95.
