The Dark comes to DVD in April

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced The Dark, a psychological thriller about the mysterious disappearance of a child, an ancient Celtic myth and the chilling return of the dead, scheduled for release in April.

“The Dark” unfolds when Adele (Maria Bello), in an attempt to close the gap on her distant family, takes her young daughter Sarah on a journey from New York to Wales to visit Sarah’s father, James (Sean Bean). Shortly after their arrival, little Sarah mysteriously vanishes in the ocean. A guilt-ridden Adele is haunted by horrific visions of her daughter as though she is trapped somewhere within the house and convinced that Sarah is communicating with her from a place called the Dark – an ethereal land of the dead and an ancient Celtic myth. Adele and James soon find themselves entwined with Ebrill, a little girl who claims she died 60 years ago in a mass suicide drowning at the same place Sarah disappeared and, not only bears a striking resemblance to their missing daughter, but reveals that she has returned from the dead to show them that in order to get Sarah back they must follow the rule “one for the living, for one of the dead.”

The DVD will feature an anamorphic widescreen version of the film and also contain an Alternate Ending as the only extra.

“The Dark” arrives in your living room on April 11 with a suggested retail price of $24.96.
