Warner jumps on the UMD train

Warner Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have long had disagreements over digital formats. The Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD debate is a reminder of the now ancient competition for approval from the DVD forum back in 1996 for the final DVD specs. Sony’s proprietary UMD discs for the PSP gaming system, while a niche market has finally gotten the support of Sony rival Warner making it the last studio to commit to the miniature format. Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Dukes of Hazzard Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Batman Begins are among the first batch of Warner UMD releases.
