Dune vs. Duuuuune

The controversial extended cut of David Lynch’s sci-fi epic Dune – long the pride possesion of laserdisc collector’s – is finally making it to the small disc. But that’s the only small thing about it. The 178 minute version of the film is coming from Universal Home Entertainment.

Although rumors flew wildly last year about a new third cut from Lynch himself turned out to by only rumors, the original 137 minute cut of the film is also present on the set. Both will be in anamorphic wideescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 Featurettes and even more deleted scenes are present on the et as well.

What is the name you call that shiny metal disc? Then that is the name that this DVD shall be known by when it arrives on January 31st for $27.98.
