The 40-Year Old Virgin arrives in December

Universal Home Entertainment has just unveiled information that their surprise summer comedy hit The 40-Year Old Virgin will find its way to DVD before Christmas.

The film will be released in three versions. A superfluous fullframe theatrical version, as well as an equally superfluous fullframe unrated version and a widescreen Unrated edition. I will never understand why some studio still feel the urge to release mutilated versions of their movies, but in the case of Universal it’s barely surprising as the studio is not exactly known for making common-sense decisions. The unrated version will feature 16 minutes of additional footage.

The release will also contain a few extras, such as the Featurette “You Know How I know You’re Gay?” and others. Deleted Scenes and a Gag Reel will also be included

“The 40-Year Old Virgin” will come to DVD on December 13 with a suggested retail price of $29.98
