Richard Linklater took his own take on the 1976 baseball flick with this summer’s Bad News Bears. The updated film hits the DVD later in the fall from Paramount Home Entertainment.

No parent ever wants to believe their child can’t do anything. When a group of underqualified kids areforced into playing baseball, Morris Buttermaker is the perfect man to coach them. But somehow, this mismatched team finds a path together. Maybe not a path to victory, but sometime you need to take any path you can get.

The DVD will come with an audio commentary with Linklater and writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, six deleted scenes, three outtakes, behind the scenes featurettes, a trailer and video baseball cards.

If you’re looking for a Christmas present, this may fit the bill with a December 13th release date.
