Universal is poised to launch the Legacy Series on DVD

Featuring three of the most acclaimed, multiple Academy Award-nominated films in their vaults, Universal Home Entertainment has just announced to launch a new branded line of releases, called Legacy Series, which will launch in September with To Kill A Mockingbird, The Sting and The Deer Hunter.

All three films have been released on DVD before but are now coming back as two-disc Special Editions with remastered transfers and fully restored audio in 5.1 channel Dolby Digital.

As extras “To Kill A Mockingbird” – nominated for eight Oscars and winner of three – will contain a Documentary about Gregory Peck, produced by his daughter Cecilia, and an Interview with the movie’s co-star Mary Badham.

“The Sting” – winner of seven Oscars including Best Picture – will offer up a making-of Documentary featuring interviews with cast and crew members.

Five-time Academy Award winner, including Best Picture – “The Deer Hunter” will come with a set of Deleted Scenes and an Audio Commentary by cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond and film journalist Bob Fisher.

The “Legacy Series” will launch on September 6 and carry a $26.98 price tag for each film.
