Mamma Mia, ABBA: The Movie is coming to DVD this fall

They were the music phenomenon of the 70s, Sweden’s pop group ABBA and their harmony infused rock songs. In celebration of the band and the success of their musical “Mamma Mia, ” Warner Home Video is now bringing ABBA: The Movie to DVD this fall.

Academy Award-nominated director Lasse Halström (The Cider House Rules, My Life as a Dog, Chocolat) captures an Australian tour of the international singing group who were the musical sensation of the ‘70s. This lighthearted look at the lives of the pop stars takes you behind the scenes and also gives you a front row seat for ABBA’s down under concerts in all their shimmery-costumed, platform-shoed glory. “Dancing Queen,” “Mama Mia,” “Waterloo,” “Money Money Money” and 15 other favorites are included.

The DVD release include a newly remastered 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track along with an anamorphic widescreen transfer. Director Lasse Halström provides a new Introduction to the film as well as a Comentary Track.

“ABBA: The Movie” will be available on August 16 and set you back $19.97.
