Ben Hur gets 4 DVDs

Warner Home Video is about to release a 4-disc set of the epic story of Ben-Hur. The film has been remastered and spread over two discs in anamorphic widescreen and with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. An audio commentary with film historian T. Gene Hatcher along with selected comments from Charlton Heston and an isolated score are also on the first two discs along with screen test footage a newsreel gallery and highlights from the 1960 Academy Awards. The last two discs will contain the 1925 silent version of Ben-Hur, a new documentary Ben-Hur: The Epic That Changed Cinema, the 1994 documentary Ben-Hur: The Making of an Epic, a documentary hosted by William Wyler and a new audiovisual tour of the film through music and photos. That’s a lot of documentaries.

The new disc set is set to arrive on September 13th and will carry a $39.95 suggested retail price.
